Jon AFThose are my initials.
But they also mean something else to me.
Jon AF.
As in: the most unapologetically me version of myself I can possibly be.
This page exists outside the polished bio, outside the press photos, outside the industry version of who I’m supposed to be. This is the part where I talk about the things that actually shape me: surfing, board sports, songwriting, storytelling, long conversations, late-night realizations, human connection, grief, wonder, obsession, risk, freedom, and the strange miracle of being alive at all.At my core, I think I’ve spent most of my life trying to answer one question:“Am I alone in feeling this way?”For a long time, I genuinely didn’t know.I often felt isolated inside my own head — unsure whether my emotions, the way I experienced the world, or the things that mattered deeply to me were shared by anyone else. Songwriting became the first place I started testing that vulnerability. Then storytelling. Then conversations after shows. Then slowly… everyday life. What I discovered surprised me.The more honest I became, the more connected I felt.
The more willing I was to risk rejection, the less alone I became.
The more I removed the mask, the more beautiful life started to feel.
Somewhere along the way, a friend pointed out that my initials are “AF.” We laughed about it at first, but the phrase stuck in my mind. Eventually it became something bigger — almost a reminder to myself. Why spend life trying to be digestible, guarded, or cool?
Why not become the most fully realized version of yourself possible?
So this page is exactly that. The things I obsess over.
The things that inspire me.
The things that make me feel alive.
Ocean swells.
Tiny moments of human honesty.
Songs that crack people open.
The feeling of flying across water.
Stories told around campfires and backstage hallways.
The ache of missing people.
The joy of finding them again.
I don’t really want to build a career that separates me from people. I want to build one that brings us closer together. So yes — my name is Jon Andrew Franklin. But you can call me Jon AF.
Because I’m done trying to be anything less.
